Ranger transmission

I removed a Ford 5 speed trans from a 1985 Ford Ranger pickup. Is this similar to the ones used behind the flatheads as an upgrade. It I D's as a build code 1-8283 ser# E 77A7003 AFA

That might not be a T-5. The S-10 or Fox body Mustang is the one I hear used most frequently. http://www.flatheadv8.org/t5-swap.htm
