random polarity question

I should mention that the generator is not hooked up

The only thing that happens "wrong" in this case is the ammeter will read backwards. That is it moves to the charge side instead of the discharge side. It'll run though. By the way it's a negative ground system.

If the generator is installed and working make sure the output is grounded to the case.
Other then that, what CharlieB says. By the way I read someplace years ago that if you run a T on battery to every once in a while reverse the leads to equalize the wear on the points.
