Radiator

Brassworks is a long time supporter of the Early Ford V-8 club and his radiators are far superior to most of those produced for our Ford V-8's. You get what you pay for and frankly I only want to put in a new radiator one time. Fixing an old one and then removing it 3 or 4 years later because it sprung new leaks from the old tanks is not something I would want to do. If you own a 40 or older Ford your original radiator is at least 75 years old. Old radiators are like old men. They spring leaks and no matter how you patch them up they are still old and will need future repair. Just ask your doctor or radiator shop.

I just had Brass Works build a 33-34 radiator and so far I am happy. But they are not cheap, in the stock form there are a lot of extra cost (like the recess in the bottom of the tank to clear the fan).

The problem with always seeking the lowest price, without considering quality, on parts for our cars is that it ultimately hurts us.

Just look at how hard it is to find good quality USA-made bearings, wheel cylinders, ignition parts, nuts and bolts, etc. Most of the parts we need to keep our cars going are, in the grander scheme of things, insignificant volumes for established manufacturers here in the USA.

If we keep buying the cheap stuff, the good USA manufacturers will just decide the limited market is too small to be worthwhile and stop making parts altogether. And then we'll only have the cheap Chinese junk that everyone is always railing about.

Just a thought to keep in mind. It came up in another thread about $250 distributors being too expensive. That surprised me, because that seemed pretty reasonable for a brand new, made-in-the-USA distributor. But maybe I'm wrong.
