Radiator "paint"?

I need to touch up the black on my radiator. Regular paint isn't the right thing, but is that special radiator black "paint" available in a spray can? Or something else? Would stove blacking work?

Yes Eastwood Auto has a Radiator Black Paint Aerosol 12 oz can. Also Krylon has a High Heat & Radiator Paint #1614 more of a BBQ paint but is available at most O’reilly auto and other parts houses that sell Krylon paint. This could be OK for just a touchup I used it on a small area and it worked OK. I have seen posts about painting auto radiators on Ford Barn so more info will be added.

I have used spray can satin or semi gloss black lacquer and it has worked good for me. Avoid piling on the paint. I put just enough to cover. you don't want to insulate. I have used the spray can radiator black and my painters nose tells me that it is lacquer. The miser in me says why pay more. just my thoughts, no real recommendations. Opinions may vary.

I agree with Purdy. I use a semi gloss by Dupli color. Works fine for me. One nice coat only. Never had a problem with looks.

You are correct about not Insulating it. I had a new core in my Tudor and had a guy helping me paint and he painted the radiator too heavy and I had some over heating problems because of it.

Maybe dumb question:
Can you effectively spray can paint front of radiator without removing it from the A?

Paper/masking tape on radiator shell, light bar, inside of radiator?

Mine works great, just needs black painting.

Yes, but you might want to block off the back side of the radiator too to prevent any of the paint from landing somewhere else that you did not intend for it to go.

700rpm,
Eastwood 'radiator black' spray paint is perfect and one can lasts for many/many touchup jobs! Also not shiny and best thing...does NOT inhibit radiators cooling quality/capacity.

I haven't seen any Eastwood stores in the Portland area, but I'll look for the brand.
