Radiator made in china

A friend is putting a 60 hp in a 29 model and found a site in china advertizing a radiator for model with a flathead all aluminum tested and free shipping for $300 . It looks legit as they make a lot of radiators for racing etc. Called racing 1998. To good to be true? Dp,

Why does your friend want to go from 200 plus cubic inches to say a 140 cubic inches? This is kind of going backwards. All he has to do is make the model "A" engine breath a little better and raise the compression. Maybe change the gearing. The sixty is a cute little engine that has no torque. People use to have to back-up hills because the reverse gear was lower than first gear and the engine did not have torque. The sixty was worse than the Edsel. Nobody wanted them except for midget racers.

I am just curious.

Sadly the responses here are all predictable. The ironic fact (or the elephant in the room) is; for each citizen to do their duty to your country and it's fragile economy, you 'must' buy Chinese product.

Only in this way will you keep the wheels of trade going with your largest (by far) creditor. The USA owes China more money than it can repay, if the citizens of the USA stop buying from China then the Chinese economy will slow down. Should that happen then the consequenses will be immediate and dire.

1st, the Chinese will have no choice but to restrict your borrowing.
2nd, should that happen the USA will be unable to pay it's current accounts, the USA is already running huge deficits, this will push you over the edge. Gov't will have to decide which acc'ts to pay, as always when such decisions are made the poor and middle class will bear the brunt.
3rd, with the current financial crisis still active the USA will need to find other sources to borrow money from. The terms of the financial arrangement will not be to your liking.
4th, the only sets of nation states that would be able to provide the vast amounts of funds the USA require would be an alliance of Middle Eastern countries or Russia.

I'm not so sure that either of these two potential borrowers will be beating a path to your door. Why is that, I wonder?

So to save your own skins you must buy Chinese. If you don't you are doomed to enter a depression which in turn will affect the rest of the world. As a result of the USA induced Global Financial Crisis the world supply of credit has almost been exhausted. Should the USA fail, we all go down with your ship.

So step up comrades one and all and hear this clarion call; "America expects each man to do his duty".

Chinese radiators only use water that swirls opposite to yours, you live on the wrong side of the equator to use a chinese radiator, you would have to buy and use chinese water to make it work. The radiator is cheap but the water is $50 a gallon. You may have trouble with the metal, we use Aluminum, they use Aruminrum. You can see how this can be a problem. Buy one from a local guy, aluminum radiators can have issues even if they are quality made, better to have a guy close by that you can have tig a patch or a fix when you nick it racing.

You can pay $300 for a Chinese radiator that cost $20 to build or pay $400 for an American radiator that cost $395 to build. I would rather buy from our Country if it was $500. Marv

OMG I hadn't thought of the consequences of importing Chinese water. I imagine that the backward flowing water would cause the circulation of water in our engines to flow backward too. Now that will create a problem with the water pumps, they will have to have their direction changed, that of course means the motor will need to be dickied about to run backwards.

And heaven help us all when the backward water is eventually flushed from its system. That water will join with regular water and cause that to run backwards as well. When it gets to the Water Treatment Plant, all hell will break... the whole plant will need to be changed to backward rotation. When the backward water flows back into the system, taps (faucets) will need changing to the new direction, water tanks will need to be braced in another direction to counteract the new change in force. Fire Hydrants will flow backwards, the list goes on and on. (Good news for plumbers though.)

But worse is to come, when this backward water eventually reaches the oceans, the currents will change. This means the world will change its rotation, the new direction means we will enter another ice age. All this calamity and trouble for a couple of lousy gallons of Chinese water.:D

I bought a Imported front wheel for a 1956 Harley Davidson motorcycle in 1974,

A few weeks later at 60 MPH the front wheel bearing seized up,,needless to say as the spokes were wrapping around the hub and the beauty of the low price slipped away rapidly.

I still walk with a severe limp from the compound fracture of my right ankle.

I bought a sheet metal brake from Harbor Freight,,why because it was cheap and I figured I don't do that much bending,,guess what,,It lasted just a coup;e of weeks before the brake broke.

Now back to the original thread,,having learned my lesson with off shore parts I have always bought quality American made radiators,,mainly Walker radiators,,expensive,,yeah,,do they last heck yeah,,

The Radiator in my 32 flathead powered sedan has been doing the job for the last 12 years or so,,the one in my 32 coupe has been on the road since the early 80's and no problems,,the 32 pickup has served me well for the last 4 years,,and I have one in my 54 wagon,,

I have also been enjoying the car hobby for a long, long time and in that span of time I have had less than steller experiences with a few radiator manufactures.

In the world we live in today we have a choice and my decisions are based on past experiences,,good and bad,,.

Craftsmanship is evident around the world,,just look at the threads here and on the Hamb.

Bottom line,,it's your car. HRP

I used to buy the boots made elsewhere, $75 would buy a pair of boots. They would last a year, buy a new pair, the heel would round real bad, buy a new pair. About the age of 35 my back would lock up with spasms, went to a doctor, they wanted to start carving, all but killed the guy, went to another, another carver, want to put in a new disk. Went to another, finally a person, he was a Chinese guy, he says that you wear these boots like this with the heel all crooked, yes, you buy new boots, Red Wings, made in USA, you have USA feet not china feet, China has all flat feet from not wearing proper shoes, USA has problems from walking on concrete, get bad muscle cramps from lactic acid in back, so he gave me 2 injections to relax the muscle and let the acid out, Not a problem since, now I pay $325 for a pair of boots, I walk around with no pain, there is not a knife cut on my spine, the boots last as long as 3 years. You can copy a product and sell it cheaper, but unless you walk around in it for a while you will never know just what the hell it really does. Sandal wearing people should not make work boots, Bicycle and 2 cylinder car driving people should not be counted on to make a model A radiator.
