Radiator is being rodded out

WOW!! I can not believe how much rusty stuff is coming out of this engine. This is the first engine I have used that has sat around dry for 12 years. My other cars have always been used, and I never had a problem with either one. Do most guy's acid wash their engines or is this something rare? Do I need to neutralize the engine after rinsing it out, or dose the water take care of that? Anything besides water wetter or anti freeze to slow the rust from getting bad again? Thanks Ed Saniewski

i flushed mine with straight vinegar and left in in for a week pluss my water pump is always leaking spraying the inside if the engine compartment with water after a week i could see rust railing down the hinge on the hood were the water sprayed up and out opened compartment and it was pure red rust covering every thing though it dose whip off. I flushes system it came out burgundy pure red it took 16 flushes to come out clear then i mixed making soda in as i was running it when i flushed that it took another 16 times to flush clean and you wouldn't believe the **** that came out it was amazing put better than any flush iv ever used. vinigar is a light asid and will eat rust it just takes a while but works pissa
