radial tires

Hi Barner's Has anyone out there used bridgstone turanza security 205/60r16 tires on 35 ford spoke rims? They are supposed to be the replacement for 600x16 bias ply. The cost is much less than coker or diamond back.
Thanks in advance, Gary

if you use radials the car will turn harder at low speeds, radials plant there tread on the road harder than bias ply so they turn hard, especially when parking, i have to run #40 to 45 pounds in mine so i can drive in town. and my guess is you will have to run a radial tube because i dont think you can get the spoke rims to hold air

steve, I run 215 70 r 16 0n 35 rims with no tubes with no leaks, f1 steering gear, pitman arm shortened 1 inch moving drives great. Scotty

Are the Bridgstones white wall or black? Sounds like a good tire. I just put a set of Coker classics on my 36, stock wheels with 550R-16 up front and 650R-16 on the backs. So far I think the ride is much better and the car seems to turn pretty easy and park ok. I have 36lbs in the front and 40lbs of air in the back.

I don't run that particular size radial on my 35, however, I have run radials exclusively on it since the late 70's. There is no way I would ever go back to bias ply tires. In my opinion, fitting radials is the best thing anyone can do to improve the driveability of their old Ford, everything is better, ride comfort, braking, steering, and tire life.
The stock 35 spoke rims will indeed hold air, however, the rims don't have the safety bead that is designed to help hold the tire bead in place, which modern rims have. You can quite concievably run tubeless. Brian
