Radial Tires

To answer your specific question on the 600-16 to radial conversion...the closest you will get is with a 195/80R16 tire. Bridgestone makes these - Diamondback has these in wide whites too.

Terrible news about the Auburn tires! I need the 7.5x16 and 5.2x16....so it looks like I will have to find another tire option. Most likely blackwalls until the Auburns come out.

Just to experience the ride in my '40 driver by mounting radials, isn't there a size at the local tire store that I could run on these 16 inch rims?

215 85 r 16. They are the tallest, skinniest commonly available radials for a 16" rim. I just bought a pair for 100 bucks on CL with excellent tread. I looked them up and they list for 278.00 apeice. They are factory issue on many dually pickups. The ones I just bought are 8 ply traction, toyo M55s. Unlike most, I like tracrion on the rear of my trucks because of my long and rutted gravel road.

I installed Diamond Back 6.00R16 radials, no tubes and 40 lbs pressure.
cleaned and sealed. beads on rims. No problems

I find the only good use for Bias ply tires is: They stay on the RR tracks better. The rails are 4'8" apart and 20lbs of pressure in the tires will make them ad hear to the rails like glue. and you can go anywhere the rails go. However watch out for trains traveling in the opect direction.

"Ol" Ron, your making me smile with the rail comments. I am reading a lot of books about early logging up north using railroads. Wonder what kind of car you could run on the narrow gauge 2 footer tracks ? Crosley maybe ?
