It is sad news....The Early V8 Club, AACA, and many of us have lost a great friend.Larry passed away yesterday in an accident at his home. For anyone that had met or been around Larry, he was always a true, gracious, and generous person. I have witnessed his Willingness to help individuals many times...RIP my friend....

One of the nicest guys in the EFV8 crowd. Had a museum filled with stuff mostly 34. Never have I heard a bad word about this affable, generous, and wise man.

RIP
JWL

I just spoke with Larry at the Charlotte Autofair. He was showing his 32 and 38. He was one of the nicest guys to talk with over the years. My father and I always looked forward to seeing his cars at the shows. RIP Larry

I'd known Larry for 46 years and at all times he was the quintessential gentleman.

May he rest in peace.

That is sad news. I have known Larry a long time and he and his brother were always kind and gracious. I will always remember Larry going to the Maggie Valley Meet in an original 33 or 34 pickup. The rest of us got stuck in the mud and had to be towed out...he drove out. It may not have been a Ford, but he also drove a Stutz 4 seater Boattail Speedster to Maggie Valley that he may never have gotten all of my drool off of.

This is very sad news !
I have visited Larry Bailey, several times. I have a very close friend, who lives very close to Larry Bailey. While I was visiting him, once, Larry handed over his keys, so I could visit his collection, in his absence. Not too many people would have done that !
Larry Bailey will be missed !

He opened his garage and collection to the tour associated with the Moonshine Festival a few years ago. He opened his shop for Vic Piano to use to change the starter on his '39, and I think even provided the starter.

The world needs more kind, gentle people like him. My prayers for God's comfort for his loved ones and friends.

A testimony to Larry Bailey,
We have known Larry for as long as I can remember, and I just turned 50 on Friday. Many years ago (late 70's) we would see Larry at the Birth Place of Speed Ormond Beach AACA show Thanksgiving weekend. We would always go down early on Thursday morning (being an hour north) to get to the flea market first thing. My dad ran into Larry early that morning (he had brought a beautiful Packard Phaeton to show) and was complaining to Larry about having the dash of our 37 station wagon wood grained by a supposed 37 expert and what crappy job they did and then sent it to us before it had completely dried, wrapped in news paper...Yea....Being the generous gentleman Larry was, he told my dad to bring it to him and he would get it done for us. We took it down on Saturday (show day) and he took the dash and tossed it in the back floor of the Packard and carried it with him. A month or so later, a box arrived with the most beautiful wood grained dash you'd ever seen and a note thanking my dad for letting him help out! What a guy and what a tragic loss to the car hobby. May God be with Larry and his family. Rest in peace Larry, you will be sorely missed!!

A terrible loss. I have known Larry since 1976 when I joined the EFV8 club. He was a kind and generous fellow who would do anything in the world for another person if it would help that person out. I hadn't been in the club long and while up at Larry's I asked him if he had a correct gas cap for my 34 Deluxe. He went over and took the gas cap off of one of his show cars and said, here, take this. He will truly be missed in the hobby. RIP Larry.

Oh man, this is terrible news. I had the good fortune of meeting Mr. Bailey several years ago at the Moonshine Festival. A very kind and gracious man. Someone above mentioned the time he opened his shop so that Vic could change a starter on his '39. Well I was with Vic that day. It was during a barbecue and open house that Mr. Bailey was having for some of his car friends during the Moonshine Festival weekend. Well Mr. Bailey caught Vic and I getting ready to "bump start" the '39 down a slope next to the garage since the starter in Vic's car was about totally shot. Mr. Bailey said nonsense and got some guys to help us push the '39 into his workshop and onto his lift. Then he opened his tool boxes and said use whatever you need. At that point Mr. Bailey disappeared for about 10 minutes and upon his return he presented us with a beautiful rebuilt 6V starter. We put that in and never had a lick of trouble the rest of the trip. That same starter is still serving well in Vic's '39 to this day.

Now all this occurred while Mr. Bailey was hosting a beautiful party for hundreds of people. Mr. Bailey was just a truely good man. I'll always have Mr. Bailey in my memory and heart as one of the great people I've met in my life. R.I.P. Sir.

He certaintly was a great gentleman and had a marvelous collection of Fords and Packards. From what I have been told, he was mowing along that creek you cross when going into his property when the bank gave way and he ended up under the mower.

Thank you everyone that has said the wonderful things about Mr. Bailey ....... Turbodickie is right .............. Larry Bailey was the best ..........

That is such sad news and a great loos to the old Ford V8 movement. I am sure he is going to be missed greatly, even though I never knew him. His family and friends are in our prayers at this difficult time. May they experience Gods comfort and love in the difficult days ahead.

Larry and I go back many years. As others have stated, he was always a gentleman, willing to help if needed and, we have lost another GOOD FRIEND. My condolences to the family. Jim Langley...

That is sad news. I met Larry a few years ago when we toured his garage as part of our Moonshine Festival activities. In fact, Larry had a fresh starter motor that he let install in my '39 CS, using his lift. I saw him again last year at the Moonshine Festival. He will be missed.

Very sad news. I was at least fortunate to meet such a nice gentlemen when I was with my firends Vic and Mike during the Moonshine Festival. May God Bless him and his family. Steve
