Quick Model A 12v coil question

So I had a Wico mag on this car and it was doo doo. Every old man I talked to told me to put on the stock ignition set up. So I have the stock stuff all installed save for the coil. I have read some threads and articles.

Here's the car I'm talking about

So from what I gather I need a coil with or with out an internal resistor. I got the one with out. I'm pretty sure I checked the ohm rating also when I got it about 8 months ago to be inline with what I read I need.

No I have 9.75ohms to each side of the coil as it's an external resistor. When I wire in a ceramic resistor to one side and check I'm still getting 9.75ohms to the side with the ceramic resistor wired in. Do these need juice or something to resist? I have two and got the same result from both.

Now from what I gather I hook up the hot side with the least resistance to the neg (ground) side of the battery correct? Then run the resistor side (secondary to the dist via the key thing that goes into the side of the stock A dizzy? Is that correct? And why about these two ceramic resistors I have that both don't seem to be resisting? Should I just go and get another from the parts store? Does it have to be 6 volt, 8 volt?

Quick side note. I have some 12 volt to 6 volt semiconductor chip sets similar to the 7810 chip used in dumbing down voltage for use with voltage sensitive gauges. Could I wire in one of those to work. I have one 7810 left (12 to 10v output) and like 10 7806 chips that I was going to use on an old 6v to 12v jeep conversion.

Went and tried to get an internal resistor 3 ohm coil and apparently there is no such thing at any parts store. It gives the same 2 or 3 coils for every application where a canister coil is called for. Found nothing on the internet about what vehicle to pull them from either. We pulled about 10 coils off the shelf and non were it.

Thank you so much for those part numbers!!! Got it. Too bad it's the one from the turd zone though. Probably gonna burn up faster than Chuck Liddel in that morning interview he did just before turning in.. Awe crap, just kidding Chuck I'm a huge fan. Please don't come kill me if you read this.
