Questions from a newbie...sorry!

As long as the kids aren't teen-agers, you should be good to go. As far as a sunvisor on a slantwindow, I personally like the looks of it. Slantwindows always looked nekked without one to me anyway. I prefer the 19" wheels, but in our club, I'm the oddball.

You have a great looking car there, Have fun!

As long as the mechanicals are good and she does not leak just drive her for awhile to get used to her. The Visor and the wheels are just cosmetic.

Enjoy,

Mike

Welcome !! Newbies like you and me have to ask questions to learn. I also have a '31 Murray Town Sedan (Straight Windshield). You are fortunate to live in an area inhabited by such fiercely loyal Model A enthusiasts.

As for five helpers, at the national meet in Oshkosh, WI a couple of years ago a local club brought along a complete Model A Chassis, Motor, wheels and tires but bare of everything else. These folks were brillant in their teaching method. They organized the kids (with careful adult supervision) to take the transmission then motor out and put it back. This training went on for about 30 minutes then another couple of youngsters took their turn at the lead. Then, a clear, brilliant voice rang out "watch out, you're doing that wrong". I turned to look and it was a 12 year old whisp of a girl giving her brother the business. She knows more about Model A chassis than many including me.

Congratutations of your effort in buying Grandpa's car. I'm happy for you and your kids.

With your car together, you might be able to help others with their questions as with people helping you out with your questions. Great looking car!

Hi Brad:

Welcome to a great hobby. Model A's are fun and very easy to work on. I agree with the others about Les Andrews books. They are like a Shop Manual and you can handle most of the future maintenance task you may have to do. By joining the local Model A Club you will become more involve in the hobby and you will have other owners that can give you any advice you need. I will also highly recommend you join the National Model A Clubs, The Model A Ford Club of America (MAFCA) and the Model A Restorers Club (MARC). Their bi-monthly magazines are a great resource and fun magazine.

Welcome Again, Henry's 31

Hey, thanks a lot. Glad to have all this great support. I did find out at our club meeting the a gentleman in our small town has the same car I do and hundreds of books of A reference material.
I finally signed papers today and am no longer a wanna be. My uncle mentioned he might sell grandpa's last project tonight, a little pickup that's in pieces right now. It's all there and then some, just in pieces. Might be just the thing the kids and I need. shhhh...don't tell my wife!
