Questions about the Model A/AA on Fordbarn...

If someone had the time to review all the questions and comments about the Model A and the Model AA Ford that have appeared here on this site, they could do a great "How to..." book of some sorts.

It would be nice to take a specific subject or a specific question and include under that subject or question, all the comments that have been repeated time and time again.

I know...there are pros and cons to this idea.

I don't know about some of the rest of you but there are times when a question pops up, most of us know the answer (some don't as being newbiees and neophytes in this hobby) and maybe...just maybe don't answer just because of the fact it has been asked so many times before and say to ourselves "I will let someone else answer it this time".

Of coarse some questions get asked and the answer given is partially there and then added on to by someone else. The there are some post that...well, I won't go there.

On the other hand...anything to help the newbies and neophytes, I guess some of us has to do it.

One of the features I was hoping would crossover from the HAMB after Ryan purchased the site was the "Tech Archive" that is maintained at the HAMB. I'm not 100% on the specifics of how it is maintained so hopefully some one with more knowledge of it will chime in. Basically its a collection of threads which have been identified to have a detailed Technical instruction of something. The subject lines are mostly written to categorize the post by putting the category as the first word in the subject. This way you can sort the posts alphabetically and see all the articles related to a topic in subject order. Body, brakes, Carburetor, Engine... etc. There’s allot of great stuff in there that would otherwise be buried in way back search results or unfound due to search terms.

I'm not sure how it is maintained, whether things get voted in or if an administrator just adds posts as he sees fit. I guess it may be more difficult to implement in the barn since you would need a Tech archive for each Forum T, A, Early8, Late8 but hopefully someday we can have it.

I believe its the best solution to your proposed question above and an awesome resource for newbies. It would not take long for some of the Gurus here to fill that space up with A+ material on the barn. Its basically the major reason I access the HAMB, I don’t own a hot rod but the wealth of technical know-how in that site is very accessible and applicable even to restorations.

The link to HAMB's Tech Archive is below.

Click the word "thread" at the top of the subject column or from the sort pulldown at the bottom and it will put them in alphabetical order.

I have thought about collecting the information on the Ford Barn to make a site for us who are new, to use the information as a reference. My question is who owns the information that is posted here, is it the person who posted it or is it Ryan? Can I copy it, and post it elsewhere? I would be willing to do most of the gathering of information, if some of the veteran Ford Barners would be willing to proof the material to separate opinion from fact.
