Question on Model A Water Pump

I'm trying to remove the fan and pully from a water-pump so I can put it on another pump. Is this press fitted onto the water pump shaft? I put a puller on it but it is not budging and am afraid of busting or bending the pully. So, how to get it off properly is the question.

Thanks
Jim

Screw a nut on the end of the shaft so the threads are protected. Hold the fan with one hand and wrap the nut with a hammer. You might have to hit it a couple of times. It will come off.

Like Tim Kelly said,I just use an old head stud. The shock goes right from stud to shaft, with the nut just holding the two together. It is a taper fit, metal to metal pressure holding it together.I don't think soaking it will help.Don't be a wuss, hit it like it just hit you.You need to use a real hammer too,not a little ball-peen.

Thanks Guys - just the kind of advise I was looking for. It makes sinse and with it being a tappered shaft it should work. I'll try it later this evening.

Thanks for the help

On a related note, I will give you my "Rule of hammers." Use a small hammer to dent something and a large hammer to Move something.
