Question for Larry Brumfield..

I forgot the numbers, let's start over.
(1) Thoughts on polishing the combustion chamber, the as cast part?
(2) Thoughts on cast iron VS aluminum for heads
(3) Head gaskets for AL. heads

Thanks

1. Polishing the combustion chambers can increase horsepower and fuel economy by as much as 5 or 6 percent. BUT, you better know what you're doing if you do it yourself. You can screw the head up very easily.

2. I have plenty of thoughts on both but I'd rather not get into the cast iron vs. aluminum thing.

3. Listen to the manufacturer and use the gasket they recommend.

I have a Weiand I bought about 40 years ago. I was thinking about copper comp, I wouldn't think its 356 heat treated. Thanks, Dudley

Dudley: I have a Weiand aluminum head and use a Best gasket. No problems. It torques down to about .050. Check your pistons for pop-up.
