question about stock temp sending units?

a)

i am converting over a 47 ford 1.5 ton "big truck" to 12 volts and would like to know if the stock coolant temp sending units will work with a 12v temp gauge? if not would anybody know of any 12v sending units that will fit in the stock hole??

b)

i would also like to convert over to a manual oil pressure gauge and would like to know the thread size of the fitting in the block.

thanks for any help

you don't have to change the sending units or gauges,
go to fifth avenue internet garage website and get the
book...Complete 6 to 12 volt Conversion Guide..by
Randy Rundle and it explains everything and what parts
you will need and where to get them...I did and mine
works great....Ernie

the stock sending units will work, they don't care if
its 6 or 12 volt, just the gauges, take the oil sending
unit with you to an auto parts and they can get you
the fittings to run a line to your gauge

To maintain accuracy of the temp reading on your 12v gauge you should use the matching sender unit for your gauge. Different brand gauges can use different minimum to maximum ohm ranges for cold to hot. The thread size in the head is 3/8 NPT.
The thread size for the oil pressure sender is 1/4 NPT.

Yes the stock WT sending units will work if you use a voltage reducer for the guages. You can either use Runtz voltage reducers on each guage or a reducer module that Ford used up until the '80s for the guage cluster.

The stock OP guage can be used with a Standard Motor Products #PS60 sending unit.
