saw a model a frame in a scrap pile, looks like the engine bolted to the front cross member, tried to find number on it, but too rusty, any one know any data about this ?..i am thinking its real early 28?..i cant find any data about this,,your input appreciated..thank you, charles..:o)..

It would be a 28, indeed, but the cross member engine mount was used until November 28. I use a rust remover wheel on a drill over the frame number. Its surprising how well the numbers can show when they were invisible at first

The earliest frames had a three piece front crossmember. The "feet" were riveted to the member. These frames were used on the first 1000 or so cars. My A1031 roadster has one of these frames. My friend's A12XX does not have the three piece crossmember. The next version was the single piece solid front crossmember that you found that was used until November 1928 or so. The Service Bulletins show how the solid member was modified to accept the front engine mount. I have an Oct 28 sedan that has the modification done to it, perhaps even at the factory before it left.

Can you post some pics? Back of the front cross member, the same for the center and the left side frame rail. That will get us closer.

I tried to post several photos but their file size is too large. I will take some photos when I get back from French Lick.

Even my 2-23-29 Tudor frame looks like it had the early solid mount sawed off at the factory. It's an original unrestored car.

I had the same problem. Open the photo that is too large in a photo editor. Crop it and save with another name. Or, if it can't be cropped, use the editor to reduce the resolution and save it with another name. Every editor is a little different, but most can crop or reduce resolution.
