Anyone have a source for a 1962 frod galaxie pwr steering control valve. Mines shot , dismantled mine and it is well worn and rusted. I don't think I can rebuild it. Someone in the past attempted it and the sleeve is buggered up Plus lots of rust. Tks Melisa

I did a search, and it looks like there's a shortage of cores. No exchanges, and pretty pricey at that. Post a "wanted" at yblocksforever, and the HAMB. Do a proper introduction at the HAMB or you'll get flamed. Not a forgiving site if you don't read the rules.

On the other hand, some of the rebuild kits list a replacement "sleeve". Might be worth finding a rebuilder in your area, and seeing what they can do.

There are services on the Hemmings site, may be worth a look. But ask around on the HAMB board, lots of people with older Galaxies there.

I just sent a cylinder for my 56 merc to LARES CORPORATION
855 Cleveland St. S., Cambridge, MN 55008, they have very good reputation, they repair all power steering parts.

Check with Rockauto.com
They had one for my car. No exchange.
They are a dealer for Lares Corp

I work for lares corporation and we do not have any of them on our shelf. The part # is a lares # 5. We can rebuild your core if you would like to send it to us, the best price though will be through rockauto.com you can go through their r&r program with it and we will rebuild it and you will have a lifetime warranty on it. When you get it back you just bot it in connect your lines ,bleed the system of all the air and enjoy. If you have any questions feel free to call us direct @ 1-800-334-5749 vand we will help in any way we can.

Had sent whole control valve assy to Cardone in Plila via Rockauto. Just got email saying they could not rebuild it. No reason stated as to why. Control valve is being returned.. Located a sleeve at C&G and is on the way, when I get the parts I will attempt to rebuild again. If no can do will try Lares corp. Thanks for all the great info.

Hello all. My first time to post. new owner of a 1956 mercury Montclair. Car is in great shape, but unfortunately sat in a garage for 15 years creating lots of dried out seals and o rings. The reason for this post is In my search for a new or rebuilt power steering cylinder, I found matching numbers for the 56 thunderbird part . Does anyone know if this is an interchangeable part? It is available off the shelf, and would save quite a bit of turn around time waiting for a rebuild. Tried to include pic. hope it worked.

Ole Don,
Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I put too much info in my post. The short question is.... Does any one know if the 56 thunderbird steering cylinder is interchangeable with the 56 merc/ford? The t'bird part is available off the shelf thus avoiding a two to three week down time waiting for rebuild:)
