Putting in a heater

Just a question about installing (hose plumbing) an antique Arvin heater, , It is going into a 37 Ford 2 door, 85 HP. So far I've done nothing and would like your ideas before I begin. It looks to me like one hose should come from the head outlet with a pet **** valve, and the other should go into one of the lower water pump inlet hoses? Would that work ok? Thanks in advance, six volt.

You are correct. Was your car ever equipped with a heater, and if so, was it an Arvin? If not, you will need a template for mounting it to the firewall.

Dear Mr. Volt,

The connection to the lower radiator hose was used by Ford in about 1940 and the vendors have a fitting that can be installed in the hose.

There is a bracket that came with it, supposed to be for this year car. Thanks for your comment about the hose hook up. I have new upper and lower rad. hoses, I wanted to be sure about this before I put a nipple in a lower hose.
I'm real anxious about getting the car completed, haven't used it for a number of years.
Mech. brakes needed attention, I had Skip Haney rewind the coil a few years ago, it made a huge difference in how it runs. Got the radiator cleaned and pressure checked, installed a new after market temp. sender. Grille rechomed this past winter, and last but not least, a new Waldron exhaust system (dual), because dual's cool, with stock style mufflers.
I should be finished with all of this soon.

Dear Mr. Volt,

I would sure appreciate seeing a picture of the bracket. I plan on putting an Arvin in my '32.

Attached below are three pictures of the Arvin Heater installed in my '37....
