Putting a new bug screen in 33-34 horns

I want to put new screens in the opening of my 34 Ford horns. What technique works such that the screen edges will not scratch the horn surface when you are putting it in?

I did my 1936 pickup horn a while back and the first technique is patience.
Second technique is some painters masking tape. Place tape on one half of the horn bulb right next to the indentation. Place one side of the screen in the indentation opposite the tape side.
Now slightly bend the screen and try to slide it over the tape and into the indentation. Yes, there maybe some touch-up paint required, but it should be minimal.
Remember the first technique.

Hope this helps.

Clever! I'll look at that today. Thanks.

easy peasy. It snaps/clicks into the correct position.

Mine was rusty, and I used it as a pattern for a new one. It's a common-pattern screen. I bought at the local hardware store at the time. Go to your hdw store w/your '36 screen match them, and buy the screen.

Oh, to mention, (mine was from a '36 pickup.)

Unscrew & remove the elbow. The elbow tube is spot-welded to the trumpet in three places. (It's been 20 yrs+- ) I removed the INTERNAL 'edge' of each of the spot welds. no biggie at all. I then bought ONE teeny 'metal 'screw, replacing the BOTTOM spot weld. The bottom screw is enough due to the exact tight-fitting elbow tube.

I then had the elbow tube professionally powder coated inside the tube as well. (the inside of the tube gets rusty from incoming rain/weather through the screen, thus, that rust stains the bottom portion of the 'trumpet' when the rain drains out. No more rust!

You'll be pleasantly surprised with the horn(s) appearance.
