putting 49-53 Merc engine in '52 Ford

Thanks to all who offered advice on my "oil pan full of goop." The pan is coming off next week. My next question: What if any adaptation must be made to put a 255 c.i. Merc engine into my Ford? I'm thinking you just pull the Ford engine out and stick the Merc in but I thought I'd ask. Again, thanks in adveance for your comments and suggestions.

You would need to install the Ford oil pan and pickup. May need to change water pumps depending what year Merc motor.
 
Depends what Merc the engine came from. If it's '49 '50 '51, the 8CM or 1CM is configured similar to the '48 '52 8RT in the shape of the oil pan and pickup tube, bellhousing, clutch and waterpumps with engine mounts. All would need to be changed to the Ford equivalent. If it's an EAC Merc from a '52 '53 it should be ok as is. ..B.
 
Hi all: The Merc engine was part of the police option in 52-53, Also station wagon springs and the station wagon swaybar. All good stuff with radials, works great! Newc
