Or is it; "Don't put off for tomorrow what you can do today!"
Well, I put mine off for almost 3-years.
The Model A cut out on me a couple times last week. The first time I thought it was a carburetor problem, but then I remembered most carburetor problems are electrical.
So I refrained from taking the carb apart, and kept studying the problem. The second time the engine cut out (seperate trip from the first), I moved the spark-retard up (I was climbing a big hill), and the cutting out quit. I moved it back down and the symptom returned. Can you guess what was causing this? Yep, you're right, the wire going from the bottom plate to the top plate.
About 3-years ago the Model A quit running.
It would gradually lose power till it came to a stop. It would not immediately re-fire, but after a certain amount of time it would. It did this 3 or 4 times, and that is when I decided to clean and rebuild the carburetor. But, I forgot that most carburetor problems were electrical, and the problem was solved by changing the condenser (but not until I had done much swearing at the carburetor
, I apologized later).
When I replaced the condenser, I also checked the points, connections, and timing; replacing and/or adjusting as necessary. During my time inside the distributor I noticed the wire going from the bottom plate to the top was in poor condition, so I taped it........
(What was I thinking! I fixed or adjusted everything else!)
Question-What have you jury-rigged, and that "fix" came back to haunt you later?
