I just got my machined 49-53 block back from the machine shop. (3-3/8 x 4).
The machinist pulled the bushing for the fuel pump push rod. I need to plug the hole. He advised caution as the bushing blocked oil to the (front to back) tube forcing oil around the bushing through a round recess groove in the middle of the bushing. (Please see pic).
He felt that recess groove allows oil to go to most of the bearings. With out the bushing he felt most of the oil may travel down to the rear cam bearing.
Previously, (A similar build) I just plugged the hole with a machined brass plug. It seemed to work well.
Now, I feel the need for clarification. Can you offer an opinion?
