pulling the starter

I want to pull the starter to repaint it and tidy up a bit. It looks straightforward, but I want to make sure that it won't take a PhD and a $200 speciality tool to get it back in. Can someone please confirm it is as straightforward as it appears? Thanks.

Remove the battery ground cable first and then remove the battery cable from the starter. Reinstall cables in reverse order.

If you like your starter to have a good ground to spin fast do not paint the rear part of the starter where it bolts to the flywheel housing. Also the housing should also be bare at the same location for best ground.

Remove the easiest to get at bolt LAST. That way you won't have the weight of the starter binding the harder to get at bolts.

I changed a starter on a newer Chevy SUV last night in the rain. Believe me, the Model A is a piece of cake!!!:)

three bolts holding it on. I agree with Tom about remove the easiest last. Remove the one closest to the block first, then the bottom one on the side closest to you, then the top. and like mort said, you may have to remove the dip stick to get it all the way out. easy easy.
