proper 40 PU horn button

Wasn't there also a 4cyl available for 1940? and wouldn't it have been different than the circles and V8???

Tim, just learn the Ford prefixes and you'll be able to see through the conspiracy! When you recognize 11C as dating to 1941, you'll know the 1940 application is part of a con!
60's did go into commercials, with a bigger trans adapted from regular V8 setup. Naturally this was about the wrongest application of an engine you can imagine...the British and Germans just kept the Model B engine in production and ignored Ford's attempt to make the 60 the low level truck engine.

Geez !! Things were going well here in the badge engineering department up until Mr. Rockfla had to mention the true fact that the 4 cylinder tractor motor was available in 1940. I was hoping that no one would bring up that fly in the ointment.
I don't know if the 4 cyl was a official listed option on the sales lit, but there was some built .To make it even more interesting (confusing?), what did they do for the tailgate, hubcaps and emblems on the very front of the hood when the 4 cyl went in? There is no 1940 options (01C) for all of these V8 Logos. Maybe Edsel and Bob Gregorie did not know about the non V8 offering. Henry probably did know but could not have cared less about the trinkets attached to commercial vehicles (?).
What does the tailgate, hood front emblem and hubcaps (if still accounted for ) look like on a 4 cylinder pickup???
Badge engineering is not as simple as people may think. It ranks right up there with the most sophisticated sciences and art forms, nuclear physics is simple compared to this stuff. Have fun.

@V8COOPMAN
That's my picture you used......I took that in Gainesville FL back in 2004 (I think) at an AACA meet. Good to see it still floating around!!

The horn button part number for the ford script in the rectangle is 11C 3627. That tells you the answer. (1941). I believe that was used from 41 to 47. Makes sense since the logo exactly matches the hood and dash emblems that started in 1941 and takes in account the availability of the 6 cylinder engine. The original part number 01C 3627 with the v8 logo (matches the hubcaps) may be lost to history as a one year item. The chassis parts book (green bible) doesn't help matters as it notes the 1941 part 11C for 1940 truck. We know that is because the fit and function for the 1941 part is backward compatible to 1940 even though the logo is different. The vendors are not helping matters as they are using the 1948 version of the green bible which is seldom correct for a specific model year as issued. I am still sticking with my unloved, untouched and never serviced 40 pickup with the black v8 logo horn button. (it looks better know).
just an opinion

Floyd, Thank you... I did not realize the other button had an 11A prefix. That settles it.

Kind regards,
Mike
