Prop nut locking washer A522510 is wide enough to go over both the top support and the lower end the top assembly, however it would require a square hole in one side to match the square under the bolt head. Does it need a square hole or should it be squashed thinner to go over the top eyelet only ?

This is the only way I've ever seen it done - bend the ears enough to hold the finger nut from turning more than about half a turn. Apparently originals were somewhat smaller and fit better.
