Problem with repo ignition switch

Has anyone had a problem with the ignition switch contacts on the back being to long and hitting the back of the gas tank when reinstalling the dash and maybe shorting out. I wasn't able to get my car started and did all kinds of tests and finally got it started and thought maybe that was the problem. I put some pieces of inner tube rubber up against the gas tank behind the contacts and was able to get it started. I'm not 100% sure that was it or had anything to do with it but the car did start.

You need to bend them after tighning the screws, pos still put tape over them, yes they are a tad long. Derek from shakey island.

There are currently MANY different key switches sold and /or made for Model A FOrds. Many of he cheaper ones need the tabs bent on them to avoid the issue you have. If you get any of the better quality ones, you will never have that problem.

I have heard from Bratton's that there is a problem with repo switches shorting out on fuel tank. Can't remember the solution. Will find out.
