problem starting

revive engine after setting couple years... good battery, new starter, power to door buzzer, interior lights, ign buzzer... when i hit start all goes dead,, ground cable gets hot. what do i need to check??????
 
I would start with seeing if it turns over by hand remove spark plugs .See if you can turn it twice around ,if standard push car see if it moves when in gear.
 
It sounds like you have found your problem. Check for corrosion on both ends of the cable , and good, tight connections. The cable itself could be defective where the wire goes into the ends. Also if it is 6v, it must have the heavier 6 v cables instead of 12 cable.
