Problem Getting Flex Fuel Line Connected

Anybody else have trouble getting the flex fuel line threaded onto the copper line?

I am using the kit sold by most of the catalog guys.

I put the line nut on, then the ferrule and tried to get it threaded in and it didn't bite. The ferrule is quite close to the end - it's the line nut that only gave me half a thread of opportunity.

The half a thread is now buggered and I have to locate a new one. Home Depot & Pep Boys were a no-go so NAPA is next.
 
You can run a 1/2-20 bottom tap in the female end. Don't run the tap to the bottom or you will ruin the seat where the ferrule seats. G.M.
 
About a year ago I bought a copper coated fuel line from DC and the fittings were bad and could not thread them into the end fittings. I told DC about this and they checked their stock and found the problem with many kits they had. I replaced the fittings with NAPA supplied fittings and all is now well here. I would guess DC supplier also supplied other retailers.
