Problem due to bushing when installing new water pump

I have mounted a new leakless water pump. After a short time the 2 blade fan has loosened. The Woodruff key has destroyed the groove in the fan. I suspect that the bushing is too long. This prevented the fan from sitting tightly on the cone. I have now ordered a new fan. Should I leave out the bushing?
Many greetings from Germany and sorry for my English.

Where did that bushing come from? It is not original. I would leave it out? You should not have any axial play with a leakless pump as the bearing is press on.

Where is all that grease coming from inside the pulley. It appears you have a sealed bearing in the front of the pump.

I see no problem with your English, better than some on here, lol. At least you use punctuation.

That bushing is a way to take the back and forth movement out of the fan shaft. Originally the head had a place where the shaft would rub against , but through the years, the head has worn and the shaft can move back and forth. Some of the new rebuild kits have a 1/4 inch longer shaft that can be ground down to eliminate the movement. The bushing you have appears to be substantially longer than the ones I have seen. If you don't have excessive end play, I would leave it out, or if you need it I would shorten the bushing in a lathe. Good luck

Original fan blades are known for cracking and blades breaking off, sometimes going through the hood . If you buy a repro fan , they are a casting and are thicker inside the pulley area, often you have to remove some stock from the water pump for clearance.
