Reality. This is Ryan's site-he makes the rules and the moderators just enforce them. You want to swim in this pool,you obey the lifeguard's rules. You have no rights here, only the privileges of belonging. If you have something that private to say, ask for the recipient's address or phone number and contact them directly.

I merely related the fact that the "private messages" are not as private as the name implies. I made no comments about the Fordbarn rules only the name, "private messages," and what I think the term private means.

Moreover, one can be a liberal in many areas of society and it has nothing to do with politics. They allow themselves to be worked up by emotions rather than calmly paying attention to logic. Your outbursts are classic examples whether you're truly liberal or not.

As for "following along like sheep;" that is a common expression that almost everyone understands with the same universal meaning whether it's technically correct or not.

No, your email cannot be read by a site Admin, unless the email was sent to the site Admin. In this example, you're only using the Fordbarn software to obtain the email address of a contact.
 
As I said earlier, I trust that Ryan does not read private messages. As his absence here dictates, he does not even read much of the public discussion on this board.

Regardless of if the moderators do or do not have access to see private messages, since they go over the internet, the federal government has capability to monitor it.

All internet traffic can be monitored by the federal government. That does not mean that the government has people looking at everything, but it does mean that it is possible for an agent of the US government to read anything that is transmitted by the internet, including private emails through any email messaging system.

If you are that concerned about privacy, you need to totally avoid connection to the internet. There are some folks living in caves in afghanistan that found out that even your caves get bombed if you choose to use the internet for communication. I am relatively sure that the US Government is not interested in any private messages on this site. Please stop the paranoia.

Now, in the interest of getting Ryan to attempt to address your concerns on this issue, I am about to report my post so it will at least send the moderators a message. If they then want to reply, that is up to them.
 
Why in the world would I want to read your private messages? And if I did, why would I call them "private"?

Fellas... I don't and won't ever read private messages.

Boy did this thread get out of control. Its just a "private message" there men. Have another shot of corn whiskey. Or take the sheep out to the field, since we seem to be talking about sheep now. Every thing is ok. If you woke up this morning and are reading the ford barn, then life isnt so bad. Its going to be a great day so hope everyone enjoys it. Mark.
 
Well if it is any concilation to you fellas - Ryan the Adminstrator has spoken and as a Moderator I can't read your "private" messages - nor do I want to.
You guys need to relax and as Ryan said put this paranoia "to bed".
Of the 10 years I have known Ryan, I can assure you he isn't interested nor has time.
As a Moderator I can delete posts - which I do when some CAN'T help themselves with political comments.
Those political comments I wish would be sent privately, so I have time to enjoy the Ford Barn and read about Fords and not have to take time to delete Political comments which is against the rules.
For those who worry about this stuff - you need to relax and enjoy Fords.
Friendly suggestion.

I felt the need to address some of your comments and then I'll stop talking about private messages.

You keep talking about "paranoia" as though some of us are in some kind of panic here. Total rubbish. That's completely your point of view. Even though he has the capability, if Ryan says he doesn't read private messages then I believe him. Nothing more and nothing less.
 
The real thing about this how we define "private". In the context of the Fordbarn Website private means tht only the people addressed in the message and the moderator can see the message in stead of anyone in the world with the internet address of Fordbarn. The moderator has the ability to look it up, but it does not go to him as an addressee.

So as you can see compared to the whole world reading your post, the PM is "private".
