Prime a new head?

I just bought a new high compression head and am wondering if it should primed prior to applying the green engine paint. Engine paint is the one sold by most supply houses (Brattons etc.). I did a search on this forum and could see no reference. If so, what primer?

I don't do it for a stock head! I just make sure all grease and dirt is taken off the head! The engine paint you buy covers really nice

Clean it real well and you will be ready to go.

Clean cast iron doesn't need primer.

I "primed" mine with what was supposed to be Ford Engine Green, but it was the wrong color. So now it has the correct color on it -- on top of the wrong color.
