Are they? Or are they getting realistic and where they should be. I know owners and sellers like the high but let’s all get real.
 
Under 30k for a 32 roadster with an older restoration with a V8. Body, interior and top was nice. I would say well bought.
Only red flag was the Vin, seller could not verify frame stamp, and it had a reproduction tag on the fire wall with the Vin stamp that matched the title. So,who knows?
Still $29k in parts.
 
It looks very nice to me, but I have learned to withhold my final judgement until "Kube" checks in.:rolleyes:
 
Since I have never been in that part ('32/'40 coupe/roadster etc)of the early ford market what would this or similar roadster have sold for 5 years ago and ten years ago?
 
Looks like a great deal to me from a distance of thousands of miles. Like has been said you need to see it in person to make sure it's not a rusted out Bondo sculpted '32 roadster but I have good feeling about that car. That was a great buy if it's as nice as it is in the photo. They only built just over 10,000 '32 roadsters and about 90% of them were turned into hot rods in the 40s. In the 50's they had the floors butchered out of them and were channeled, in the 60's the frames were all boxed and Chevy's installed. There are not very many original '32 roadster's left.

This 1932 Ford Model 18 roadster was refurbished in 1971 and was purchased for the seller’s grandfather on his 83rd birthday in 2013. It has since remained in the seller’s family and is powered by a 221ci flathead V8 paired with a three-speed manual transmission. The car is finished in cream and black over brown and is equipped with body-color wire wheels, dual side-mount spares, a tan convertible top, cowl lights, a luggage rack with a trunk, dual side mirrors, and a rumble seat. This 1932 roadster is now offered with literature and a clean California title in the name of the seller’s family trust.
 
The story goes, it was restored in 1971. If true, The body held up well, no rust coming through.
The VIN number stamped in the firewall patent number plate was bothersome, seller couldn't come up with a picture of the frame stamping.
 
At that price; you could part out the excess and have a Henry body with title to build on for less than a Brookville; oh! the sacrilege. Hope not; but entirely possible and maybe even likely in some manner.

We will see this car in a few years or so advertised as a "Real Henry Ford Steel" chopped, channeled, sectioned, filleted, diced, massaged, Hodge-podged and bubble gum colored "for sale".
 
And maybe, just maybe, one of US Barners was finally able to afford the car of his or her dreams! Look on the bright side! Maybe we will aquire some new blood to fill the open slots that have come to pass in the last few years. Inflated prices have surely been a factor keeping young guys and gals from joining the wonderful "Early Ford V8" experience.
 
The market is collapsing on the street rod and hot rod folks as well. Do you think any percentage of the population aged 20-40 years has any interest in a hot rod or street rod? Nope.


After they pay their $2,000 a month mortgage, $800 a month car payment, put $150 a week of gas in a car, pay insurance and utilities they really have disposable income?


There aren't enough rich folk to prop the market up. Those folks don't buy old cars.

And they aren't saving even a dime for the future.
I am really getting tired of dealing with sales personnel and office workers that don't care and are only there for the Friday paycheck.
 
So many negative thoughts and opinions lately. Starting to sound like a bunch of "Grumpy Old Men" We've never had it so good. I would bet there isn't anyone on this sight that has missed a meal in many moons. Probably a lot of big bellies too. It is so easy for all of us, me included, to forget what is important and what is drivel.
 
Eventually the 30's and 40's cars will go the way of the Model T..... No buyers as they outlive their generations.

I'm 46 years old, 6'1", 215. No belly. I work as a loan officer at a community bank. I see what is going on every day. I don't mean to come off as negative. I tell my wife that I'm not a pessimist, I'm a realist. :) I'm blessed in so many ways, very thankful for what I have. I also realize I'm not the majority. It's a brutal world.
 
Seth you indeed are fortunate. Pay attention even more after 50 and stay healthy as the challenges increase and keep enjoying your hobby.
