Pre-ordained?

While driving my 1930 sedan to Hershey, we stopped at a post office to mail a few things. A guy who had been following us was headed there, too, and complemented me on my car. I told him that we were on the way to Hershey. He said that he was a former AACA senior judge. I told him that we were entering our car in the Driver Participation class. He suggested going for a Junior award. I think his eyesight must be bad, but went on my way.

Today, we picked up our registration package and my car is entered in the Junior  class. Well someone messed that up. Maybe I checked the wrong box on my registration.

I am a little embarrassed to put my car in the "real" judging, but I noticed that there are four cars in my class, two of which are not to be judged, so I might get an award by default. It should be fun, no matter what, but I feel like the people who are getting the house in shape when the minister stops by unannounced! I wonder how many cars in the judging were driven 125 miles to the show like mine was?

You should get extra points for not entering a trailer queen! Wayne

Some folks get MUCH too serious about "competition"! If your car makes you HAPPY, just be like the PIG, rollin' around in THE MUD!

Some folks don't get how MUCH fun it is to get serious about competing against the standards and yourself.....wfyb..

Jim,
I humbly apologize to you & anyone I offended. I ADMIRE all your hard work, to make the cars, AS NEW.
If I had enough years left, I "might" follow that path also.
Whuts wfyb mean?

that added some excitement to your soul huh,,looking forward to hear how you made out today. your competing against the point system and your own car, not the other cars

Well, my car is in no way a show car. A nice older restoration showing its age. The judges were nice. I was told that my radial tires were a show stopper.

I enjoyed my placement. Lots more traffic than in the DPC. Lots of questions and good conversation. I met some folks who I knew of and had a great time. Beautiful day. The biggest downside to it all is having to wait around until you get judged. Not as much time to look at the other cars. I will post a photo of my car in the lineup once I get them downloaded from my camera.

I will order the judging sheet. My spare is a bias ply. I probably should have just requested that my car not be judged and saved everyone some time.

the winners list was published and i see you won a third junior... thats pretty damn good just going in cold like that. congratulations
who knows maybe your stone guard was the difference of a 3rd to a 2nd?
you have a great looking car

Back in 1986 at the World meet for the Model A clubs (more stringent judging) one of the top cars was driven from TX as I recall.

Mitch, they were kind. I should have taken the stone guard off. I did when I got home, LOL! It's a good 10 footer. Makes me want to spiff it up a little more!

Nice car! Mine is still running old Mongomery Wards tires that will need replacement soon enough. Can you tell us the brand and size of your radials?

The tread looks like Excelsior Stahls..........super, excellent quality tires with exceptional handling traits. DD
