Powerhouse Tension Brace Mount Bolt:

Yesterday Charles Reese posted this picture in response to my post about the mounting bolt for a powerhouse generator.

Tension bolt.JPG

He stated that this "bolt/nut combination was used to mount the tension bracket for the powerhouse generator to the timing cover" and "that they ate not currently being reproduced".

It kind of looks like a double ended stud of some type.

It made me curious. Has anyone seen or have one of these? If so, could you provide particulars as far as thread size, length, and the size of the nut or bolt head in the middle? I was wondering how hard it would be to make one.

Does anyone have one they would like to sell? (Already posted on the swap meet)

Thanks,
Jon

I have one of these in the shop which I removed with my five brush when it crapped out and reinstalled a six volt alternator. I was mounted on a mid 28 engine which I still have and hope to rebuild. I'll look for that bolt tonight and see if I can post info for you.

Jon,

1. Over all length....2.247
2. working right to left from the photo...3/8-16 X .925
3. shank .256
4. step .0375 X .6305
5. nut .416
6. 3/8-24 X .600

Look close at the nut on the stud...it has a chamfer on each side of the nut.

Farrell,
Thanks for you response, but it looks like D.J. beat you to it.
D.J.,
Thank you sir. That is what I was looking for. I did see the chamfers on the nut.
Question; So it is a nut on a stud, or is it one solid piece?

I emailed Bert's this AM. They have a couple and he will be sending me one. :)

Thanks Bert's.

Jon, I bought one on Ebay. I had a quote for 25 pieces at 21.00. each. I just don't think there is enough memebers out there to have them made. Brian

Brian,
Thanks for your reply. I got one frok Bert's. I do appreciate it anyway.

I have posted recently regarding this bolt. I bought one on ebay and had a quote for reproducing. If I make 25 it runs around $25.00. If I have 50 made it runs about 19.00. Brian
