Powerhouse Generator Question

The exploded view of the powerhouse generator shows two cork gaskets, one on each end of the main shaft. I don't recall seeing such gaskets when I disassembled the unit. Are they necessary and if so what would the thickness be? Have not seen any being offered in the parts catalogs so assume I will have to make them.
Thanks in advance for any information on these items.

Did you find a source for the brush springs? I need some.

Thanks

The gaskets are needed for the armature to be in the correct position fore and aft. I cut gaskets out of 1/32" cork. The rear gasket is crimped in place by the end cap, but I have found the gasket destroyed once and made a new one a bit smaller outside diameter that would slip in place and be held in position by the rear bearing.

I'd also like to find a good source for the powerhouse brush springs.

Need Powerhouse Brushes? MAKE YOUR OWN!!! Go to the MARC website (link below) and page down to the bottom of the page. There you will find instructions to make your own. I have made several sets and they work just fine. Making them is very simple, takes little effort (takes about 1/2 hour) and cost is only about $2 per set.

Maybe you were not replying to my post or you did not read it correctly or completely. My question was about the springs for the brushes. Is there a source for new springs for the brushes?

Regarding a source for the brush springs I do not have a source but am actively searching for one. Am contacting spring makers to see if they would consider making them. Am trying to estimate a total potential market for the springs. I believe the same spring is used in both the 3 and 5 brush generator. My first estimate was 3 to 5 thousand springs total market. This may be too high not sure. Would appreciate any comments on what others think this number should be.
Will keep you posted on any results we get from spring makers.

you can get NOS brushes off ebay, for like $3-$5, and they are correct and will fit right in, no remanufacturing of old used brushed
