power steering reservoir gasket

The power steering reservoir cover gasket I purchased is 5 29\64 inches O.D. and a second provider also lists this size (1954 Ford Victoria ). It is too large ;I need it to be approximately 5 1\4. I don't know why there are two different sizes ; does anyone offer the smaller one?

Are the gasket(s) from the same manufacturer? It may be the gasket.

Not knowing the history of the car and reading Kultulz's post, I suspect that the reservoir is not the correct one (the cylinder was not the original 1954 and the replacement hoses didn't match up ).Maybe I need to use some silicone on the old one and hope it doesn't leak.

Yes, the reservoir or the whole PS assembly could have been swapped with one from another vehicle after all these years.

Maybe buy a sheet of cork gasket material and cut one out.

Is the engine original to the car you think or did someone just convert it to PS?
