Power Steering Pump as Hydraulic Source

I have been thinking of adapting my hydraulic camper jacks to run off the power steering pump on my 360 truck engine.

Has anyone done this and what kind of pressure/flow might I expect?

Thanks

I've used Ps pumps for other hydraulic purposes. I don't know the flow and pressure but it will operate camper jacks just fine.

No I don't know the requirements of the jack but 1000 psi should supply plenty of force to lift the camper. I am a bit concerned about balancing the flow to get the camper to go up evenly. I was thinking of putting in some kind of adjustable flow limiters to equalize the flow. Its a 4 jack system.

If the pump volume is low it will just take longer to lift the camper.

Thanks

5 gpm should be plenty by a very wide margin. As for the even lift rate, you could rig up separate valves and regulate it manually I suppose. As a matter of fact that would also allow you to level the camper. You would need some sort of mechanical jack stand that would allow you to relieve the hydraulic pressure from the system so that it is not pressurized while just standing.
