That is a fine looking 56 Merc. in your avatar photo. I don't think there is a better looking car from the 50s, than the 56 Mercs.Anyone have any leads on power steering hoses for 56'Mer ....
Sorry for your bad time at your local NAPA store. I work for NAPA in Mansfield ,Ohio. We have 4 guys with over 35 years apiece in the parts business. We won't stop looking until there are no more rocks to look under. Most of us are more comfortable with the parts books, because that is what we learned on. Some of the younguns just don't have the desire to learn anything, unless it's on the computer. We still make hoses everyday, and if we don't have the fittings, we can usually get them overnight from our warehouse. You're lucky, my NAPA place got rid of all the hose equipment and has hired a bunch of computer geeks that don't know how to use the books. "If it aint in the computer they don't have it." Funny thing, buying brake shoes (rear) for my 57 Ranchwagon the counter guy said they didn't have them, got on my machine and found a part number and took it to him....."how did you do that?".....I told him PFM!

I have a NAPA store about three miles from me. The guy there cant find toilet paper in a Target store. The NAPA about 13 miles from me found a special wire end for a GM alternator and it was in stock. He almost turned the store upside down and shook it, but he found it, all for a two dollar wire end.Sorry for your bad time at your local NAPA store. I work for NAPA in Mansfield ,Ohio. All NAPA stores are not the same, its all about the people inside.
