power steering cylinder

I tried to buy a power steering cylinder for my 56 merc, all suppliers seem to be out, the excuse they give wont have for 10 weeks, their manufacture is having trouble making. I put a new seal in the cylinder, but still drips, the rod measures just under 5/8 of inch, I think it is worn. I would like to make a new shaft. Does anyone have the dimension for the rod. I use the old rod but its in cylinder at the place that installed it for me and they want bay cleared.

Call Lares Corp. 1-800-555-0767 Good people to do business with. They did my pump and my control valve, both for way less than others quoted.

Seems to me that Lares made a new stainless steel shaft for mine a couple decades ago. They are pretty good with the ram cylinders and control valves.

Called Lares will take 3 weeks to have cylinder rebuilt, my merc is on jack stands hate to have it like that for 3 weeks.
