Power but no spark!

My battery died the other and so I charged it and tried to start the car, but now I have no spark. The car was running just fine before the battery died. I have power every where that I have checked but it doesnt throw any spark when I crank it. What should I look at? Could it be the condensor?

Check the nuts at the bottom of the coil, they do shake loose.

Are you getting spark from the coil wire? Ground it (carefully) to the block. If so, are you getting spark from the plugs?

Sounds like the condensor take the cap and router off turn the key on and open the points with a screwdriver look close is there a small white spark than change the condensor also if the coial was not hooked up correctly the coil could be shot.

I took the cap off and used a volt meter. It says I have voltage to the cap. I have a clear cap so I can see into the distributor and there is no spark. I will check to see if the points spark. Everything is hooked up right as the car ran great before the battery died.

Worn points could be the problem. Change em and see if you get a good spark at the points when you open them with a screw driver.

Sounds like a shorted coil? That is the only thing i can think of that would cause the fuse to blow with the points closing.

1.2 Ohms primary and 3,200-4,400 Ohms secondary

I agree with MIke that it sounds like a shorted coil primary. Was the key left on to kill the old battery? I saw a coil go from good to bad when the key was left on for 30 minutes.

I don't remember. It was one of those things that happened, I got frustrated and put it on charge without paying attention. I don't think it was left on to kill the battery but I think I may have forgotten to turn the key off during charging.

Yep, that probably overheated and shorted the coil. Have you tried another one yet?
