Powder coating removal.

I have some Model 'A' tools here which some person in the past has powder coated. I want to remove it. Bead blasting should suffice, but the Ford Logo on two of them is extremely fine and would surely disappear. Any ideas folks?

Methel Ethel Keytone. Wear some heavy rubber gloves when handling this stuff. It is known carcenogen and easily enters the body through the skin. I do not know where to buy it, but know it is often used to remove paint in the aircraft industry. Very likely it will have no problem removing powder coat although it would not be my first choice it would atleast be on the list of things to try. Rod

A company I use to work for, used a "burn-off oven" to remove the powder coat. You can also use a small torch to burn the powder off.
Hope this helps.

MEK is Methyl Ethyl Ketone and is extremely flammable and very fast evaporating. It will evaporate before it gets the job done. I would suggest more of a paint remover rather than straight MEK, by the way MEK is the largest component in lacquer thinner.
Burn off ovens are used to clean conveyor hooks in electrostatic painting operations. It is a good way to do it if the part can take the heat.

Just use paint stripper. It will lift it off, powdercoat is only a urethane based powder that flows out with heat instead of a resin.
