powder coating carburetors

While they may charge a fortune, you might want to price getting a wheel body worked & painted. Then compare costs! ;)

Add me to the list that has powder painted carbs. Done it for nearly15 years I suppose. We just put a layer of aluminum foil between the upper and lower halves, then bolt the two halves together and powder paint them with a thin layer. Heat does not bother the castings. Very little to mask.

Brent do you use flat black on carbs? Great tip on bolting it together using foil

We did, ....but personally I think that the powder painting 'novelty' has run its' course. While I still have all of the equipment to powdercoat with, I'd bet it has been 3-4 years since we restored a car that the entire undercarriage was powder painted. While seemingly heat cured powder paint is durable, it really is not any more durable than a sprayed catalyzed urethane paint. In either applications, it is the MIL thickness and the quality of the material that defines the durability. Thick & cheap powder paint will chip and fade faster than a high quality 2k urethane that only has a minimum MIL thickness (including substrates).

I have one that was Powder Coated 4 years ago and it looks great. Possibly a little darker in color but looks fine. It was light gray to start with. Wayne

Amazing how your thinking can get changed.. But, ya gotta have an open mind.

And the poster who said those who never tried it don't like it. True..
