Possibly Changing Engine Oil from SAE30 to 10W30

My take:

Enough oil is better than not enough oil
Clean oil is better than dirty oil
Synthetic oil is probably better than Dino oil
After that - take yer pick, they all work fine in a Model A.

Shew - what’s the oil on the dip stick look like, smell like? My A was supposedly driven less than 50 miles in the last 18 years. No idea when/if engine may have been rebuilt before then. Oil was clear and golden brown

FWIW, When non-detergent oil sits, any dirt in it settles out and the oil appears nice and clean. With detergent oils the dirt stays in suspension and the oil discolours.
Many years ago, with using non-detergent oils we left used oil sit for a few weeks or longer, then skimmed the nice clean oil off the top to be re-used. With detergent oils that doesn't work. Bindar Dundat.
