Possible First Model A

He has the engine, but it's all apart. It needs a total rebuild. I was thinking if I can get this a little cheaper, it would be well worth it.

He wants it gone by Sunday, and money talks. I think you should get it for less than $4000.:)

Horrible.
First, you don't want a 4-door family car. Look for a Tudor or, better, a Coupe. Secondly, and more importantly, you want a running and driving car. It can have some rust, can have an interior that looks horrible, and can have dings and dents, even a fender missing. But you want it running and driving. Demand no less, and if you don't have the money to buy such a car now, wait 'til you do.

What's wrong with " a 4-door family car " ? If this is what the fellow likes , and it gets him into the " A ' hobby , I say go for it . [ Just my opinion ] .

I enjoy fordors, they're roomy and comfortable. I realize this comes at a price due to all the wood in the body. I agree I should get a car that is running and ready to drive but I don't see why this won't work. I could find a cheap good running engine as stated earlier and put it in. I could put on some old worn tires with tubes and get this thing on the road.

I agree, it looks doable and especially if you get some help/advice from local Model A guys.
In the 4th picture, what is the bar in the center of the windshield? It looks like a split windshield.

Not sure, I'm going to call the guy again today and maybe go see it. Like I said before, if I can talk this guy down in price, this will be a good project and eventually be a good driver. The model a club in my town could provide me with lots of help and guidance. Only problem that seems to arise is transportation. It's a good 2 and a half hours from me.

I dont know about 4K but if it is all there.....Being from New England where winter lasts about 9 months a year you will have plenty of time to work on her:D. Seriously, CHECK the wood out very carefully. As long as you have the tools, space and know how invite the club over once or twice a month, buy pizza and beer and you will have it done in nothing flat. Just my 2 cents worth....

DJS: Pass this one up son. looks as a parts only car (or what is left of one). Follow the above advice in finding a drivable car, getting it running, safety checks and enjoy for awhile before making the decision to restore. Just advice from an old Model A'er for some 46 years. Good luck, they are still out there...

Nothing, if you are a family man or 50-80 years old. Everything if you are 18 or 20.

Some of my friend's have said that they have never owned a 4 door car and never would. Most of my cars including my first at 15 have been 4 doors and I like them. They really are more practical than tudors, and in Model A's they are not only more comfortable, but I think they rank in a higher class. I like my 29 Tudor, but would sure prefer a Fordor, as long as the wood is good.

Twice my "friends" stabbed me in the back when I told them about a car deal I was working on.

"keep your friends close and your enemies closer.........."
