Possible coil getting hot ???

Thanks for the reply Jim. I have another condenser . Its a new one from Napa (If its good?) It is the same type that you put on my dist so it is an easy change . I need to wait fo a hot day as the problem is more pronounced when it is hot. Any thoughts on the coil being to close to the exhaust ? Maybe I could put a heat gun on it to see how hot it is getting ? But I would need to know how hot is to hot ? Thoughts ?

I really dont think the location is bad. Many are mounted on the intake and front of the engine without a problem.
A hot coil usually isnt the problem until the coil gets so hot that it explodes with oil running out etc. Theres really no " thermal" cut off inside a coil , until they get so hot that they short by expansion and the windings short and even then they seldom fix themselfs by cooling off...

Thanks for the reply. I will change the condenser and see what happens. I think I need to order one of your 12v coils and maybe an extra condenser or two that you have tested. I don't have an extra coil so if I put yours on and nothing changes then I can put the one I took off in the trunk as a proven good coil.
