Dad (Ol Jenny) starts his first round of chemo this morning at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Cinics. His 2018 Model A touring season is on hold. Mom and Dad survive the Iowa winters by performing preventative maintenance on Ol Jenny and dreaming of the upcoming touring season. I know he'll see this so please send along any encouragement you can.

Cancer sucks.

My thoughts are with Ol Jenny and the family. As a cancer survivor I can tell you a positive attitude and family support are the most important things. Just remember, YOU CAN BEAT THIS!

Attitude is very important for surviving cancer, so keep your dad's spirit POSITIVE. I survived cancer and so too can your dad. My prayers are with you and your dad.

Wish you the very best and stay as strong as you possible can. We are all thinking of you and praying for your family!

t I have seen from reading all his posts is that he is a kind person and one of the best people ever to post on this forum. My thoughts and prayers are with him . Heres hoping for the very best outcome !!!!!!!

Thank you for all the kind posts. The first of 6 three week chemo infusion cycles went well yesterday. Many have experienced this and many will follow. I am in two research programs that hopefully will help those in the future just as many have done previously to help those of us at this time. I have great family support and that makes a world of difference. Thanks again to all.

Good luck to you Don. U of I hospitals are a good place to be if you need help, and they are fairly close to Muscatine.

I'm a two year Lymphoma Cancer survivor. They have made big advances in treating cancer. Every 6 months something new comes out, they told me.

I was in the hospital in Rock Island, had an Oncologist in Davenport that was fantastic. I also was traveling to the Larie Lymphoma Institute in downtown Chicago, NW Univ. Hospitals and had excellent care. Great people.

Hang in there, keep a positive attitude. Get plenty of rest, drink all the water you can stand, eat what you can food won't be very appetizing for a while but get plenty of Protein and Vitamin B-1 you need that to rebuild.

And when you are thru the treatments, take it easy. It takes time to get your strength back don't rush it. Don't get discouraged.

Best of luck to you. People praying for you makes a big difference also. You will beat this. It can be done.

Don, my daughter is a senior at the University of Iowa and very active in Dance Marathon, a student run organization that raises a lot of money for children who have cancer and are at the University Hospital. There have been many, many miracles happen at that hospital. I hope there's a miracle there with your name on it.
