Positioning starter brushes in an Autolite case

I read this post about keeping brushes in their proper place for an 8BA;

http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25277&highlight=starter+brushes

But this method won't work with the starter cover on my starter.

Unlike the 8BA starter pictured in the thread, the starter housing does not have any slots where the brushes may be visible during assembly. There is no way to see the that the brushes stay in place when I'm installing the armature.

Anybody got a simple trick to solve this problem? :confused:

It may not be a Ford housing unless you are mentioning a later type starter. You would have to install the rear brush plate on the armature before installing it into the case if there are no slots or pin holes to hold the brushes againts spring pressure. All my 8BA starters have slots with a steel band cover.
