I have a 1951 8ba with two 94 carbs
starts and idles fine on accell it pops thru the carbs
any suggestions timing is set new internal balas 12 volt coil

wires and plugs are new any suggestions

Anyway to swap the manifold to stock with a single carb? Do this and If it still pops out the carb check the valve train.

Good question for Bubba or Charlie NY. My first choice: Since it starts and idles fine, is timing advancing too quickly ? Cap and rotor in good condition ? What's it do when de-accelerating ? My less likely thought: Cam a tooth or so off ?

Generally backfiring out the exhaust means too much advance and backfiring thru the carbs means too much timing retard. I'd look at the distributor and the timing.

Guys, He has two threads going on the same subject. On the other one he says he has a stock distributor. 'nuff said.
