poppers

Bought a 40 ford delivery van with shaved handles. Old resto from 2005. Auto box poppers. Passenger door worked. Put new engine in it. Now neither door opens. Fobs are good. Is there a brand that I can get to replace the fobs and receivers and not mess with the poppers themselves or does the whole thing need to be replaced. I believe autobox is out of business.

So what I am trying to say is that the receiver does not work when you press the fob. Can you leave the poppers in place and wire up another receiver with new fob's and leave the original poppers in the doors. Take the old receiver out and throw it away with the old fob's. That way you only have to wire up the new receiver and set the fob's.

Wiring in a new receiver is the only logical way to go.
If you are using the remote receiver as the sole way to open the doors then you should give serious consideration to hooking up strategically located push buttons to allow opening without use of the remote.

I have both remote and push button capability plus a mechanical way to gain entry if the battery goes dead.
Have you checked the batteries in the FOB?

Is the old receiver getting power? If they worked before the engine change, then I'd trace the receiver power back to it's starting point. bet somewhere a wire was left off.

Should just rewire a new one. I will try and try the power source first and go from there. Thanks for the help from everyone.

I installed a lot of door openers way back when. If I were you, I would seriously consider installing mechanical handles.

I passed on a ‘41 coupe for sale even through the price was very good, it had door and trunk poppers and I felt it was more money and work adding the handles back as everything was welded up. BTW this car didn’t have remotes but a switch under the gas door flap.

I've seen switches under the running boards and my buddy used a magnet by the windshield chrome to pop the drivers door open.
