poor idle

I hope this might help others. I have been fighting this carb issue since the resto of my ccpu. just could not get it to idle well. I had even rebuilt another complete carb but downfall was I used the same throttle shaft. the shaft I used was all steel and had a milled recess where the butterfly sat not a slot like the brass ones which in turn blocked the idle hole in the throat off. changed to slotted style shaft and idles perfectly. I dont know if the all seel shaft is supposed to have a different butterfly or its just an oddball. hope this may save somone some grief
 
I dont think so the B carbs I have are made differently they still allow the butterfly to be in center of shaft the one I have offsets the butterfly. I would like to thank the Ford Barn for its information and Dave from Jordon for his advise
 
I had a fellow club member look at throttle shaft he said its a tillitson shaft . I dont know where I got it as I dont have any of those carbs
